Jack Petchey Foundation Award

Jack Petchey Foundation logo

The founder of the scheme, Jack Petchey OBE, was born in 1925 in the East End of London. He started his career just after the war when he set up his own business selling and hiring cars. 10 years later he branched out into property development and quickly became one of the most successful businessmen in Britain.

The Jack Petchey Foundation was set up in 1999 and since then over £30million has been given to youth groups throughout London, being distributed by awarding each winner £300 to be spent on the youth group of their choice.

In September 2007, Alex Dixon of the Comets Youth Orchestra was amongst the Award winners who received his award at the Mermaid Theatre, Blackfriars. Marlon Hibbert received his Jack Petchey Award at the Comets Winter Festival in December.
